The primary crusher sets the throughput of everything downstream. Here is what to compare before choosing one - feed opening, largest lump

A jaw crusher is the simplest machine in a crushing line and the one that constrains it. The reason is structural: everything downstream can only process what the primary stage delivers, at the size the primary stage produces. So the first question is not which model is largest, but what the biggest lump in the feed actually measures, and how often it occurs.
The feed opening is often read as a single number when it is really two. A 600 by 900 opening accepts a nominal lump well below 600 mm: the jaw has to grip the rock before it can break it, and a slab that is too wide will sit on top of the chamber instead of entering it. Comparing the feed opening against the largest lump, and against the shape of that lump, is what separates a plant that runs from a plant that blocks. The discharge setting then fixes the product size handed to the secondary stage. Open it too far and the secondary crusher is asked to do work the primary should have done; close it too far and throughput falls and wear rises faster than the reduction gained.
Drive power is the third number, and the one most often misread. A larger chamber needs more power to be driven at the same crushing frequency, not because it crushes harder but because it holds more rock in the chamber at any moment. Site conditions matter as much as the numbers: a machine with a generous feed opening tolerates a less disciplined loading regime, which in a quarry that is not perfectly controlled is worth more than a slightly better nominal capacity. Before ordering, settle the rock type and its abrasiveness, the largest lump, the tonnage the line must hold and the power supply available.
